Lesson Plan for the week of September 30, 2013

Monday:  Test over chemical symbols.
Students who have not passed their elements test will complete a worksheet over chemical symbols.  Students must pass the elements test with 100% accuracy in order to receive a grade.  Students who have not shown mastery by the end of the nine weeks will receive a zero on the test.
Students will complete and the Power Point presentation over changing states of matter. Students will then complete "States of Matter Vocabulary" to review terms from this section of the chapter (MBC).
Students will then search the internet to find the boiling point and melting point of eight elements from the periodic table.  Students will use this information to create a graph.

Tuesday:  Students will be introduced to the gas laws by reading the online textbook, Chap. 2, Lesson 3, and then completing "Table-Gas Laws" (MBC).  Students will watch the "What's Science Got to Do With It?" episode "Under Pressure".

Wednesday:  Students will complete the MBC assignment "Which Gas Law Applies" based on their understanding of the gas laws. Students will then use the gas laws to complete the MBC assignment "Gas Laws:  Calculating Pressure, Volume, and Temperature."

Thursday:  Due:  Boiling Point/Melting Point graphs.  Students will participate in a Venn Diagram activity over the gas laws.

Friday:  Last day of the nine weeks for turning in late work.  After today, no late work will be accepted, unless it is the result of an absence.  Students who have completed all work to date will participate in labs.  Students who have completed all labs for this nine weeks will complete the "Marshmallow" lab.
